World number one Rafael Nadal on Sunday said he has agreed to play an exhibition match against fellow Grand Slam title winner Novak Djokovic in Saudi Arabia in December.

“Thanks for the invitation and looking forward to playing and visiting for the first time,” Rafa said on Twitter.

  1. How kind of Rafa to offer his sports academy to those affected by the flooding in Majorca. Love ❤ you Rafaxxx

  2. I am Rafa’s greatest fan but I don’t think he should play in Saudi Arabia, a country he shouldn’t be identified with. I know sportsman try not to get into politics, but there is a minimum of respect for humanity.

  4. I hope that this meeting is not Doso’s way to prove that he is THEBEST and NUmber 1 no matter what, which he is bound and determined to do. I also hope Rafa, that you don’t sacrifice your body and future for this !!!!
I am sure that this meeting seems to be worth it or you would not do it??

  6. Oh dear, another opportunity for Novak to smack our good, old Rafa again!!!!!
Thankfully, it’s only an exhibition match, so it doesn’t count.

    But, as always, we’d see…………………hmmn

    • Do you not have a life? You poor, sad lonely thing. But still… who are we to keep you from your only source of attention and exercising your bitterness in such a pathetic and pointless way. After all, I’m sure you find yourself amusing, however brief the moment.

  7. Oh dear! I’m a little alarmed about the political backlash on Rafa’s twitter account on his decision to play in SA. I really don’t know what to think. Is it a human rights issue or are he and Novak merely giving something to the sports loving masses over there and therefore opening society up? Personally I think sports and politics can be kept separate and the fans there seem almost desperate to see him. I sincerely hope this is a storm in a tea cup but some of the responses are really ugly:(

  8. Will it be on hard courts, clay, or grass? Will it be indoor or outdoor? Will it be day or night? What is prize money? Is Rafa’s knee ok yet? Anyone know if he is training?
