Tomorrow is a day to play a great match against a very tough opponent. He’s a complex player. He has everything. He’s young. He has passion for the game. He has a great forehand, great backhand, good serve. So he’s not about one thing. He’s about everything.
Rafa, whose last hard-court Masters 1000 title came in Cincinnati in 2013, is into his first Rogers Cup final since that impressive summer stretch five years ago, which saw him complete the Canada-Cincy double and win the US Open. He is 3-0 in finals in Canada, also prevailing in 2005 and 2008.
Tsitsipas will try to become the first player since Albert Portas at Hamburg in 2001 to win his first ATP World Tour title at a Masters 1000 event.

Stefanos “I’m capable of doing anything on the court and beating any player.” I don’t know the context in which he said that but Rafa is not just “any player.” Stefanos will not be able to back up his words, today. Rafa has it.
Rafa didn’t become one of the greatest tennis players of all time with talent alone; a powerful work ethic, self-improvement, the right attitude, challenging adversity and winning, resilience, passion and love for the sport, respect for each opponent, etc. If Stefanos can reach these criteria, and more, he could possibly reach his goal of becoming a world-class tennis champion. He could be on that path. But not today.
