World No. 1 Rafael Nadal has said he will be available for Spain for September’s Davis Cup semi-finals clash with France.
Spain confirmed a spot in this year’s last-four by defeating Germany 3-2 last weekend in Valencia. France, meanwhile, defeated Italy 3-1.
Rafa:
I am available for the upcoming Davis Cup matches until the end of this year. I have a strong will to play, plus the next tie is after the last Grand Slam of the season.
The semis take place in France between September 14th and 16th. The tie begins only five days after the US Open in New York City.
The only question was and still is if he will also play Laver which will be held the weekend after DC, September 21-23.
I would think his decision to play Laver depends on many factors including but not limited to; his physical readiness, his willingness to globe-trot back and forth between Europe and the US, and tournaments to be played after DC.

Rafa, you are an amazing tennis player. No one by far has the heart and the passion that you bring to this sport. Be well, rest up. Injury free. Get ready to defend those points in the clay tournaments and the RG too. I can predict that you will win if you put 110% into it. Wamos for the semi-finals of Davis cup which is a beautiful cammaraderie enhancing and world-wide prestigious tournament. Before then,I hope you will acquire an additional USO title On the other hand, contrary to J.Goldin, I hope you will not waste your precious health on Laver cup Chicago which is nothing but RF’s self-enhancing and additional glory seeking enterprise where cammaraderie is either non-existent or minimal.
The USTA and Tennis Australia are partners with Laver Cup, the event created by Team8, a management firm owned in part by Fed.
Both Rafa and Fed parted ways with their management firm IMG and started their own firms. Both of their firms seek to create events and to manage athletes in various sports and in entertainment. Laver Cup is a product of this vision.

I’m with you, Janet Goldin. Our family has our five session tickets and hotel for the Laver Cup in hope of seeing Rafa. He really seemed to enjoy playing last year, so I hope he comes to Chicago for more “team time.” In the meantime, please stay healthy Rafa. Tennis needs you!
