Sad to see @RafaelNadal go out with an injury like that. Did well to fight on through the pain but was clearly in much pain. He hates to retire but the wise long term decision to retire. #AusOpen

Sad and very unusual image. @RafaelNadal leaving the court without having finished the match. The 10 time RG champion has to retire against @cilic_marin. The Croatian is in the semis/Touché au haut de la cuisse Rafa a abandonné contre Marin #AusOpen

Personally, I think he got further in the AO than he, or I thought! Back after injury on a hard court, he did well. Good luck for Acapulco,
Sorry – racquet – not racket 🤣🤣
Have been reading a few articles on how good Federer has become – better than ever. Super movement, ease, consistency, precision and and and. Don’t like reading all this, but one thing is true – fed makes it a point to make changes in his game, racket and other things. His backhand shot that Rafa relied on as weakness he had already changed and mastered by the last AO. He has become much more aggressive and his confidence soars. He chooses his tournaments carefully and keeps it to a minimum.
I am no fan of Federer – faaar from it- but I have to give the devil his due.
Rafa hs to become wiser, make changes in his play, shots, schedule and maybe other things too if he wants to play for many more years, avoid injuries and still keep beating the best including Federer.
I wish with all my heart that this happens and he starts winning matches more importantly grand slams.
As for cilic beating Federer – only a miracle can make that happen.
Cmon Rafa!!!!! VAMOS !!!!!!
Get well soon Rafa!!!
Its unfair Rafa played in the heat n humid conditions more than dear RF…its just not right..seems RF gets preferential treatment more often. Why wasn’t he played in the heat. Same thing in 2011 Rafa injured muscle probably cause of playing in hot humid conditions. Furthermore, Rafa has the game to be aggressive. After first set he should have played more aggressive. It seemed n understandably he wanted to win this AO (seems cursed given he could easily have had at least two more to his name) so badly he was almost playing to not loose. Having said that I am convinced he would have taken the match in the fourth set had it not been for the injury. Have so upset. Btw I wonder if dear RF whose back injury baffles me as he hits over 200km serves, was getting injured like this those who run the tour would have reconsidered the way the tour is being run. Finally I think Rafa respects RF too much…not good…he should never have played that stupid Laver Cup played on RF favourite surface ofcourse where if I recall correctly he played way more than RF…I couldn’t believe it sometimes two in a day. This year he should not play it. Get well soon Rafa…had you not had such luck yes you would have had at least 3-4 more slams to your name way early.
