  2. RF the greatest player ever? No, the luckiest.

    As others have said, he has 5+ years start on Rafa and the others, to take GS titles with no consistent first rate opposition. And yes, as soon as Rafa and the Djoko appeared, those GS titles became fewer. Few major injuries in comparison with not just Rafa, but other greats like Sampras.

    He is smug, conceited and arrogant, in my book, but worst of all, insincere. He does not begin to compare to Rafa in honesty, and generosity and genuiness.

  4. Rafa you still played magical tennis. You are so dynamic on court and gorgeous to look at. It must be very disappointing for you but I am 100% sure you will bounce back when you recover from your injury. You are and allways will be my number one tennis player.

  6. Rafa I know it is disappointing for you.

    Get the MRI and attend to the issues.

    I agree with the above comments that Roger Federer gets all the considerations going out here,
    and VERY rarely plays in the heat, or first class players given to hime along the way.
    It is PURE Discrimination, and the players should all band together and challenge the approach of the organisers.

    I have seen it time and time again, and live in Australia so know the heat conditions,

    • That is not true, Its the luck of the draw.
      Rafael was not 100% going into the tournament nor was Novak.
      They did not play any lead up tournament either, if they had done so they would have been able to manage their body better.
      Federer manages his time better and plays a different game which is easy on his body.
      He is and will always be the greatest player ever

      • With all the privileges given to Fed, of course it makes things easy for Fed!

        How is Fed the greatest player when he was always beaten by his two nemesis – Rafa and Djoko at the slams especially?

        What Fed has is five to six years advantage over Rafa and Djoko, and Fed also has his injuries – foot (2005), knee (2016) and back ( throughout his career – 2008/2009, 2012, 2013, 2017).

        Its just that Fed has already reached a stage where he can pick and choose what he wants to play, so hes playing fewer matches thus saving his body.

        The one who’s truly amazingly fit is Djoko, who rarely gets injured until 2016 when he injured his elbow, and that is after winning 12 slams! Not forgetting the tough competition he has to face from 2011-2015, the big four era.

        Rafa is injury prone from the start because he has his congenital foot issue to start with. He had to adjust his movements to accomodate that foot issue, hence his knees were also affected. Hes also very muscularly built hence adding more pressure to his legs.
        Its no wonder Rafa has to slim down through the years so that he can at least relieve some pressure from those knees.

        I have to say Rafa’s problem is his scheduling; he should cut down on events played now that he is older and is allowed to skip events without getting penalty. Where scheduling is concerned, Fed is the smartest, playing the minimum to save his body from getting any injury.

    • Ellaine, I agree with you entirely re. speciaal consideration given to Federer. He always gets most of the night matches. That has nothing to do with the draw. It has to do with the Austraian tennis officials who make everything as easy as possible for him. I am also an Australian and have also seen this favouritism many times.
      Who has night games and who has day is not part of the draw. Players can make requests regarding playing times but it is Federer who always gets listened to. A reporter asked him earlier in the tournament whether he gets listened to more than other players and he said smugly “possibly.” Rafa played two night games and two day games – no special consideration for him even although he is Number 1. But then , he does not expect such consideration . He believes in fair play and is not so arrogant as to expect special treatment because of who he is.
      That is why I admire him so much.

    YES INDEED, IT IS IMPERATIVE FOR REFORM AND ACTION TO TAKE PLACE. SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE AGAINST THE ONGOING PRACTICE OF ATP OFTEN SUBJECTING SOME OF THE PLAYERS TO TOUGH DRAWS AND COURT MATCH TIME , WHILST SPEARING OTHERS WITH EASIER ROUTE TO THE QF, SF, FINALS. .

    AS WE SPEAK, THERE ARE GREAT DISCREPANCIES ,RIGHT NOW, HAPPENING AT AO TOURNAMENTS:
    1. IT IS NOT RIGHT AND UTTERLY DISCRIMINATING TO SUBJECT SOME PLAYERS TO THE EXTREME HOTTEST DAY TEMPERATURES BY CARELESSLY SCHEDULING THEIR FIVE SETS MATCHES………….BUT AS ALWAYS, SPARE princess r ONCE AGAIN WITH HIS MORE PRIVILEGED COURT SCHEDULE IN COOLER TEMPERATURES PLAY TIME DURING EVENING COOLER HOURS.
    2. SIMILARLY, ROGER FED GETS TO PLAY DURING THE DAY, WHEN COLDER WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURES ARE EXTREMELY COLD, WHILST OTHER PLAYERS ARE SCHEDULED FOR NIGHT PLAY. WE SEE ATP OVER AND OVER AGAIN PROTECT princess r WHILE OTHER PLAYERS HAVE TO PLAY UNDER SUCH EXTREME WEATHER ELEMENTS…..
    *MAKES FOR DOWNRIGHT WRONG TOUR POLICY AND DISCRIMINATION IN THE SPORT.
    3. WE NEVER SEE princess r having to face such CURRENT, STRONG, FIT PLAYERS who are at their best conditioning….instead, we see him being sheltered under easier tour draws over and over again.
    4. THE DELAYS IN SCHEDULING DUE TO RAIN , PARTICULARLY IN WIMBLEDON AND US OPEN, ALWAYS APPEAR TO EFFECT PLAYERS HAVING TO STRUGGLE WITH LATE MATCHES, HOURS OF UNCERTAINTY OF "WAIT AND SEE" WHERE THEIR BODIES ARE IN INTENSE COMPETITION WAIT MODE, BUT WITH ZERO CONCERN OR EFFECT ON princess r because we often see he is somehow gets to play the next day.
    5. IN EVERY TOUR, THERE ARE "SURPRISE" OUT OF THE BLUE, IMPROVED STRONG PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY RANKED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR ACTUAL ABILITY AND TOP PERFORMANCE. SOMEHOW, AND OFTEN, WE ARE YET TO SEE princess r having to compete against such HIGH LEVEL SURPRISE PLAYERS ON HIS EARLY TOUR MATCHES. ON THE OTHER HAND,
    WE SEE RAFA AND OTHER PLAYERS, IN EVERY TOUR, HAVING TO COMPETE WITH SUCH PLAYERS WHILST princess r gets spared IN THE EARLIER ROUNDS.
    6. RAFA and OTHER PLAYERS OFTEN GET UNPROFESSIONAL UMPIRES WHO ARE NOTORIOUS FOR BEING BIAS, CARELESS AND MISTAKEN IN THEIR CALLS. WE DO NOT SEE THAT HAPPENING in princess r matches. THE GREAT LADY UMPIRE WHO COVERED RAFA'S MATCH YESTERDAY (cilic), AND THE FRENCH UMPIRE COVERING RAFA'S MATCH WITH DIEGO, ARE EXCEPTIONAL, GREAT UMPIRES. BUT TAKE A LOOK AT REPLAY HISTORY AND UMPIRE PERFORMANCE TO NOTE THAT RAFA OFTEN GETS THE POOR UMPIRES WHO OFTEN HAVE MISCALLS, AND ARE RIGHT OUT NONE PROFESSIONAL IN THEIR BIAS CONDUCT.
    ALL THE ABOVE IS OBVIOUS AND MATTER OF FACT OBSERVATIONS OF MANY AVID TENNIS FANS AND PLAYERS WHO DO NOT DARE VOCALIZE AND EXPRESS THEIR DISMAY.
    NOTHING NEW.
