Rafa on playing David Goffin:

After what happened to him at Roland Garros (an ankle injury), it would be really unfair if he was not here. I’m very happy to see him recovered and playing well. Hopefully he won’t play that well on Monday but he’s 100 per cent here and he deserves to be.

David on playing Rafa:

We’ve played some good matches – on clay in Madrid for example was a good match that Rafa won and we’ll try and play another good match here. I’m sure I can play some good tennis against him. I’ll try and play some good rallies, be aggressive and make him run a lot. We’ll see, I have nothing to lose. It will be a good match.

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. Rafa fought like a lion and with a bad knee and it still took goffin 3 close sets to beat him. I can see him limping now. I hope he calls it a year now and gets that knee seen to.

    • Yes,, what a fighter he is 😍🎾💪🏼 I too noticed the limp 😣😥 Please Rafa, take care of that knee of yours 😘 All the best champ#1 ❤️🍀

      • Its so sad for rafa. He’s had such an excellent year and is year end no1 but im sure he wanted this trophy to add to his collection. But i think he will have to pull out if his knee is bad. Never mind. Lets hope he has a fantastic 2018 -which will be interesting as stan, andy and novak will all be back no doubt but at what level? It’ll be fun to see it play out.

  4. Can rafa come back after being broken twice in the final set? And with a bad knee. Stranger things have happened and im sure he will try!!

  5. Rafa definitely felt the pain when sliding into his FH chasing yet another aggressive ball hit to the corner from Goffin at deuce, followed by a misjudged volley and broke himself.

I hope he will withdraw after this match. It’s been too much already. Too risky. 🙁

    • Rafa pretty much broke himself again (no disrespect to Goffin) but a loose service game and Rafa took one break back with great point construction.

There isn’t much weight in his shots now. Goffin is redirecting them all at will, punishing his legs even more.

This is just too painful to watch.

  6. Great work Rafa , a real treat and privilege for Londoners and GB to have you here this week . Keeping my fingers crossed that your knee holds up and you can take this match.

  7. Rafa was too fed up with those serves out wide on the duece of Goffin side he finally punishes it with a blasting ROS winner.

    But Goffin still hold comfortably.

    1 all

  8. Rafa took the 2nd set winning 1pt less than Goffin and saving all 4MPs, 3 in one game. Such a heart of a lion. Watching him play extra aggressive and go for broke on those MPs was emotional.

Now he has the ad of serving first in the decider. Come on Rafa, get it done neatly this time and take a well deserved rest.

  9. YES – U ROCK RAFA!! 🎾💪🏼😃 Awesome comeback. Keep it going champ 🍀😘👏🏻
    VAMOOS!! 😍🎾👊🏻

  10. One thing’s for sure and that’s Rafa always delivers on entertainment and excitement. He’s so determined not to let everyone down, even though he’s visibly struggling with the knee. Such a fighter! You can’t help but love the guy!

  11. Yes yes yes. Can rafa’s knee take a 3rd set? Im sure he will do his best. Just love this man – win or lose.
