You are capable of defeating anybody new comers and old champions like Roger and Novak too. I hope that’s one of the things you have taken from this and other achievements of 2017 so far.

I loved seeing that video on Twitter this morning 🙂 Spent the day reminding myself, “Rafa won the US Open!!!!”, then at the petrol station on my way home from work, he was one of the news headlines on the screen at the tills (in UK), I only noticed the words “Rafael Nadal” and “passion” and I haven’t yet found the article it came from, but OK, I knew about that already! Maybe it’s just me, but it almost feels like this was Rafa’s first slam; it’s a breakthrough, the start of something. Vamos Rafa, so proud of you!

  7. The way Rafa played yesterday was extremely composed. Things that stood out were his first serve % and his overall dominance in his own service games (several times at 30 all, or deuce, he stepped up). The no fear attitude from the start (finally!). Huge difference with everything in the last 4 years, the winners were flying off his racket again, like the Dark Knight Rises of 2013 US Open, last seen for real in that final against the Djoker! And last but not least, incredible net play. Net play without any mistake. Who ever volleyed as well as Nadal last night (he won all his points at the net). Some years back, Nadal playing one serve and volley points, would go viral. As a testimony to his greatness, it’s not only part of his game plan nowadays, he even won the match by executing it perfectly last night at match point #2. What an incredible win.
