Match time: Rafa is third on court Philippe Chatrier. Around 1:30 PM local time / 7:30 AM EDT –  New York, Montreal / 12:30 PM BST – United Kingdom / 1:30 PM  CET – Spain, France, Germany, Italy / 9:30 PM AEDT – Melbourne. To convert to your local time, use this website.

Rafa on playing Haase, who once pushed him hard at Wimbledon:

He is a player I know very well and he knows me very well, he is a dangerous opponent.

He hits the ball very hard so I need to be very focused on the serve because returning can be tough.

I need to play solid and try to be ready to play a tough match.

Rafa leads Haase 2-0 in their lifetime head-to-head.

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. VAMOS Rafa… You are on fire! Bringing your fans Happiness and a break from very sad things Happening in the world. However I was sobbing after Stevie Johnson won … He is so devastated over losing his father and my heart is breaking for him. You bring your fans such joy and happiness and we are all rooting & cheering for you to win your 10 Roland Garros trophy! Maria and Susie my condolences on such a heinous attack on your beautiful country… I also worry about Wimbledon and all major tennis tournaments…We lcan only hope and pray that security will at the highest level. It sure would be special for all of us if Rafa does win RG for his 10th time! For me that will be the cherry on top of the cake!

    • Thank you Sioux for your very kind words at such a devestating and scary time. Watching Rafa is a great escapism for a while. I to so hope that Rafa can take the title again at RG , and thinks twice about going to Wimbledon this year,.

    • Thanks so much for your kind thoughts Sioux. It has been hideous but the people of Manchester will pull together and overcome this terrible and sad time. The best thing we can all do is carry on as normal and with heightened security everywhere I am sure all will be well. Rafa’s performance has put a smile on the faces of Maria and myself I’m sure. Waiting for the 3rd round now on Friday and I’m hoping we will all be smiling once more.

  2. Rafa, you came out sporting the mean and moody look from the start , showing you meant business . Effortless today Rafa, you chewed your opponent up and spat him back out again , my only criticism was that you weren’t on the TV long enough , that and the ten minute dribble from the commentator’s about how longggggggg you take to serve , how many times do we need to hear this. Good luck in your next match Rafa , you’re doing just swell on your road to the final , and it won’t be long before you have to bin those trainers with number 9 on the back as they will be outdated news.😁

    • I second all you say! Just hoping that commentator gets the negative feedback he so deserves. Rafa has brought far too much respect and excitement to the game to then be critiqued for his rituals which only show he is human and not a machine.

    • Hi Maria I hope all is well. Were you watching Rafa’s match on itv4? John Inverdale (who I normally like) in the studio was chatting to mark petchy and actually timing rafa. That was so wrong and as you say they were droning on and on about it for ages until mark pulled himself together. Bad form all round I agree.

      • Hi Susie , all good , hope you are well and your family are able to get back to some normality after the recent horrific events. No Susie I had the tennis on Eurosport1 so I can keep flipping between that and Eurosport 2 depending on who’s playing. The commentator’s were Chris Bradman ( whoever that is ) and Mats wilander , and they were saying the same thing about how long Rafa takes on his serves and were also timing him, ,and they said that on one occasion he took 31seconds instead of 20. They also said nothing gets done about it because it’s Rafa. Have to say it doesn’t look good on Rafa if different channels and commentator’s are all talking about it. Uncle Toni or Moya need to sort it out , Good news is Rafa is playing great , and Andy’s form was looking up in his later sets, not so good is Novak and Raonic are also looking good , and Milos served 25 aces in his match . I Still believe Rafa can lift the trophy again though.

  3. Again Rafa, and I LOVE SAYING IT, CONGRATULATIONS….2 down, 5 to go. MMmmWwWaaAaaH for you.

  8. I would like to add to the conversation about match times.

Having followed Rafa for so many years, friends and I understand that his matches usually start later than the original time posted. I usually start checking on the day of his match but even then different sites will have different times and the TV announcers are just as bad, at times. Best thing to do is keep checking.

    RAFA REALLY ROCKS

  9. Best of luck and health tomorrow and for all of the French Open! Viva la decima!

  10. While Rafa has added a coach to his staff recently, Haase’s coach is still on trial for murder.

      • Yes it was last year I think I read about it. Jason is right. Robins coach arrested and charged with murdering someone. Can’t recall the details and I’m not sure he has been convicted yet or even had tbe trial as not followed the story.

  11. The match time is wrong.

Rafa to play the 3rd match on Chartier after the 2 WTA matches. So it should be at 4-6 PM local time, depending on how the previous matches span out.

      • The first match starts at 11am. How can 2 matches on clay, even if it’s WTA, plus all the transitional time last only 3 hours? Or 2.5 hours like you post in the article?

Rafa can play at 2 only if both of those matches go sth like 61 60, which is very unlikely, especially at slam, on clay.

Just pointing this out as I don’t want anyone to probably have to miss the match because they saw the wrong estimated time and have made their plan accordingly.

  12. Good tennis to you Rafa. This should be a straight forward win for you without hiccups.

    RAFA ROCKS TENNIS FASHION

  13. A great first match Rafa, good luck in your next against Haase. Enjoy your game and make sure you come out on top.
