  2. Didn’t see Novak’s match but apparently listening to the commentator’s he played really well. Rafa great result but you didn’t play your best not the form we saw in the AO. It was your first match but a few wild balls and to many going into the net . Maybe the matchstick’s hold my eyes open are clouding my judgement but your going to have to up your game to beat Novak, but I know you can after your performance in Australia . Good luck in your next match now I’m off to get some zzzzzzzzzzzz

  8. The entire AO play schedule and match pairing leaves us with old questions! It was NOT a question of luck roger had an extra rest day over Rafa……..atp always plans the easiest, most convenient tour schedule , time of play, and much lighter competition for roger all the way…. AMAZING that it keeps on over the years….and atp keeps mounting roger with protective trophies ….. Rafa in my humble opinion has won the AO…..since his route was hard fought, brilliant, spirited and above all was based on genuine competition.

  9. Good luck Rafa , I’m hoping to wake up on Wednesday morning to great news . 3 different channels in the UK are televising this tournament I’m going with sky sport 3 and have my fingers cross that I’m recording the right one.

  12. Deep Analysis:
    Novak Djokovic is bent on stopping Nadal in his tracks, cutting short his momentum just when it appears that Nadal has (at last) found his mojo back! My concern is that Novak has never taken part in the Mexican open before, so why the sudden change? At this time of the season, Novak normally plays at the Dubai open. But he needs to urgently play the new, resurgent Nadal to reassure himself (Novak) that is still his whipping boy!

    He definitely wants to cut short Nadal’s building of confidence before it reaches an explosive, unstoppable level at the FO. He’s doing this so as to quickly catch up with Nadal in the Head to Head in terms of No of GS won. Nadal has 14 GS while Djokovic has 12 – just a difference of two.

    With RF now at 18 slams (and still counting), it is not likely that either of RN or ND will ever catch up with him. Hence the change in Djokovic’s strategy to at least surpass and supplant Nadal to a permanent 14 GS!!

    Nadal must therefore do ALL that is necessary to BEAT Djokovic if they do meet at this Open so as to break free of the stranglehold of Djokovic.

    But, as always, we’ll see. Hmnnn…….
