Here’s why Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have the best bromance in sports

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer reunited on Wednesday to open the Spaniard’s new academy in Mallorca.

Rafa gifted the Swiss with a special poster, commemorating their best moments on court together:

Dear Roger, thank you very much for your support at the official opening of my academy. Today is an unforgettable day for me, my family and my team. You cannot imagine how special it is to have you here with us. Roger, this reflects all the moments we had on the court. Looking back at them I see all the great memories we shared in our careers… To be continued…

Roger Federer said:

I’m super happy to be here. I know where I’ll send my kids if they want to learn how to play tennis.

  2. Wow…What a sight! Two of tennis legends with the most famous rivalry in tennis history, together celebrating Rafa’s academy! How can I be sad that Rafa will not be competing until next year…Just look how happy he is! It’s so hard to believe all those years have gone by ! I’m sure all of us remember all those matches and cherish each and every one of them. How lucky we are to have witness the most famous rivalry in tennis history. They both look so handsome in their suits and I know Rafa was honored that Roger was there!

  3. Vamosrafanadal27, there’s nothing wrong with that, but fear not they haven’t retired yet and by what I have read have no intentions to do so at the moment.I guess we just need to enjoy every moment they grace the court and keep reminding ourselves of how great their next chapter in their lives will be ,but until then make the most of every moment.

  5. All very nice and all. But the saddest thing is that Rafa is a full frigging five years younger than Federer, he is bloody 30 years of age, and yet indeed, it seems more likely that Rafa’s career is over soon than Roger’s.

  6. CNN has bestowed the title of “Humble Gladiator,” upon Rafa Nadal. All the best Rafa!

    HUMBLE GLADIATOR

  7. So wonderful to see both of you together, it augers well for tennis with young men like you two, and
congratulations Rafa on the opening of your Tennis Academy. Love and Best wishes go to you Vamos Rafa

  8. These photos are absolutely breathtaking! Rafa can you get more handsome than that! Apparently this project means a lot to him and he looks so happy over there. My heart just melted when i saw his glamorous smiles. 🙂

I have never been a Roger’s fan but I am so touched by his support of Rafa’s project. I also remember once he said Rafa is the most talented tennis player ever. I believe they two are indeed good friends, and probably Roger has contributed and reached out more in this relationship because he seems more outgoing while our sweet Rafa may be a little bit shy socially. And that tribute Rafa presented to Roger is absolutely heartwarming…. Brought back a lot of beautiful memories about their rivalry and also their own greatness.

I also envy Rafa’s home town people a lot…. I think this is a great venue for them, especially for their kids. I hope one day I get to visit it too! I have never thought of visiting Spain before, but now I want to go! I really want to visit Monacor and this beautiful Rafael Nadal Sports Center!

  9. Best of luck Rafa as you launch your academy, you and Roger are the best! I knew the first time I saw you play tennis on TV many years ago, you would be a champion and number 1.
