He is a great player. He is young. He has all the shots: good serve, good forehand, good backhand. He’s a tough opponent. I practiced with him a couple of times and I played with him long time ago.
I know he’s able to play a very high level. I know it’s going to be a very tough match. I need to be ready for the match. I need to be ready to play my best if I want to keep going.
Rafa won their lone meeting in April 2015 on the clay courts of Monte-Carlo (6-2, 6-1), but Pouille is a completely different player since then and the hard courts of Flushing Meadows are more suited to his game.

Absolutely gutted you fought so well in the tie break , Rafa so wish the outcome could have been different but you played some good tennis this tournament and maybe after a two month break and a wrist injury it was asking a bit to much . 😪😪
