(EFE) – Rafael Nadal said Wednesday he expected to take part in the upcoming Summer Olympics and hoped to be well-prepared for the competition.

“I hope to improve a bit every day and be well-prepared for Rio, although, as I always say, nothing is ever certain in life,” Rafa said during the presentation of his “Sport Xperience by Rafa Nadal” in his hometown of Manacor, a small village on the Balearic island of Mallorca.

“I feel fine, am working hard and recovering,” said the Spanish player at the presentation of his interactive exhibit which showcases the numerous trophies he has won and includes games and tennis simulations.

Rafa expressed his appreciation for the “recognition” implied in being the designated flag bearer for the Spanish delegation at the Rio Olympics.

He also said that taking part in the Olympics is an experience that an athlete can “very seldom” enjoy in his career.

“I hope everything turns out well this time, unlike in London,” he added, in reference to the 2012 edition of the Olympics, in which he was unable to compete due to an injury.

  1. What an honor to be the flag bearer for the Spanish delegation for the summer Olympics in Rio! I am so happy for you. I sure wish I could go. I will be watching on tv. My wish is to see you play in person. I am saving for Miami and Indian Wells 2017. You will always be the best to me. Your biggest fan. I have so much respect for everything you do. Heal and rest well. We all miss you so much. You have a beautiful and loyal family. God bless you! And thank you for making my life a little happier.

  3. Amor825, the museum basically is about Rafa and tennis. Named the International Museum of Sports, it is located in the Rafa Nadal Sports Center in Manacor where one can access his academy. It contains an interactive program called Sport-Xperience by Rafa Nadal by Movistar (a major sponsor). A virtually present Rafa will guide you through some of his matches, simulations, and sport-related activities. Some of his trophies will be on permanent display, as well as other objects from prominent sports people.

    • Thank you Margo – very informative – I think I now know where I’m going on my next holiday!

      • Haha…. I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a fun experience for adults as well as children. Both the academy and museum are purported to have the most advanced technologies. I wouldn’t expect anything less of Rafa.
