(AP) Rafael Nadal says his return to the Miami Open brings back mostly good memories, even though he’s 0-4 in tournament finals.

“I think I played well in my career here, no?. It’s a positive tournament for me. Only negative thing is I finally never win it. But the feeling, the atmosphere here is great. I enjoy being here. The fans here are amazing with me, so just enjoy.”

Rafa on Federer’s withdrawal from the Miami Open:

“It’s obvious that a tournament with Roger is always better. It’s good that it’s a stomach problem and at the same time it is not the knee, so it’s not a big deal. But it’s obvious that it’s terrible news for the tournament.”

Rafa says he’s in a better place mentally than a year ago:

“I am enjoying the practices, I am enjoying the tennis court. I feel with the right energy. I can lose, I can win, but I am happy on court.”

Rafa is not thinking about retirement:

“I enjoy playing my sport. It’s about love for the game, about passion for what I am doing, and I am going to be here until I am unhappy doing what I am doing.”

  2. When Rafael played Roger in the final in Miami, it was a 5 set tournament, he was 2 sets up but Roger came back to win. Now only 3 sets. Roger unfortunate to pick up a stomach bug that prevented him playing Juan Martin Del Potro.

Why do journalists ask stupid questions at Press Conferences. Rafael has many more years to play. He loves the game and brings joy to millions. The most charismatic of players, he brings so much to the game.
Happy Easter to Raftans all the world and success and enjoyment to our champion

  5. Rafa will do his best to win he always tries and he will continue to do so I know one day he has to retire but I don’t want to think about that and I hope it’s still a long way off as tennis would be so boring without him
He is and will always remain my favourite tennis player of all time
So go Rafa and try to win this but if it doesn’t happen then you still the champ with all your so so many fans

  6. I don’t even want to think about Rafa’s retirement. He is so much fun to watch. I saw his doubles win yesterday and he had such joy on his face when they won. The stadium was pretty full and the fans were chanting his name.
