Next week, Rafael Nadal will start his quest for a second title at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The draw results are now out and our champ got a though one.

Rafa, the 2009 champion, will play in the first round against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.

In the second round he could face Benjamin Becker or Dudi Sela.

If all goes well for our champion, he could face Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the third round and in the quarter-finals he could be seen battling with Stan Wawrinka.

After that, the semis is a likely duel with Andy Murray before a final battle between Rafa and Novak Djokovic could not be ruled out, if all goes well for these two players.

Rafa’s quarter:

  • 2nd round: Benjamin Becker or Dudi Sela
  • 3rd round: Jeremy Chardy
  • Last 16: Kevin Anderson

  1. I believe you are ready and eager to take on your draw. I wish you only loads of great matches. One good thing you like the heat. A lot of players have difficult time with Australian sun and heat. You have always said the sun gives you energy and strength. When Novak was his whiny self he could not stand heat.
Remember it is not about Novak we watch because of you. Best always

      • Thanks for the insult, “nr 1 fan”. Nadal’s own words: he has a tough draw, so does Verdasco. Given Rafa’s dubious form, there are plenty of reasons to expect Verdasco to win this match. You are a hater!

  2. i think this is best draw for rafa….. he has already defeated stan in staraight sets on two occasions out of last 3 meetings. I think rafa will be very happy to avoid novak until final

  3. Whatever draw rafa play is fine unless rafa is playing bad

Rafa is playing fine, still needs little adjustment …he needs to bring in inside out forehand from 1 st match

Its bad luck for rafa not to have practice session with stan

    Good luck rafa

  4. I think it is an okay draw. I prefer him to play established players rather than one match wonders. The pressure is on Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka too. Let us take it match by match. Go Rafael. All support.

  5. Rafa, my thoughts and prayers will be with you every match. I am unable to attend as I have to fly to the UK in an emergency and have had to get rid of my tickets. God be with you and my love. Your adoring fan, Merlyn.

  6. That is expected. We all know that is a grand slam so expect tough of the toughest. But for sure Rafa & his team are well prepared for that. So let’s hope for the best. VAMOS RAFA!

  7. Good luck Rafael in the Open. A rather serious eye problem has cropped up n I have to return to Perth for treatment, thus I may not be able to attend Saturday week of the Open when I may have been lucky enough to have seen your Game. I am 80 yrs old n feel this is my last chance to see you play in person! I will be praying for your continued good health n good luck. God bless you. Vamos Rafa. Your Aussie Abuela. xxx 😀😊😇🎈🎈🎈
