Next week, Rafael Nadal will start his quest for a second title at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The draw results are now out and our champ got a though one.
Rafa, the 2009 champion, will play in the first round against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
In the second round he could face Benjamin Becker or Dudi Sela.
If all goes well for our champion, he could face Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the third round and in the quarter-finals he could be seen battling with Stan Wawrinka.
After that, the semis is a likely duel with Andy Murray before a final battle between Rafa and Novak Djokovic could not be ruled out, if all goes well for these two players.

- Federer-Berdych
- Wawrinka-Nadal
- Murray-Ferrer
Rafa’s potential route to the final:
- 1st round: Fernando Verdasco

I believe you are ready and eager to take on your draw. I wish you only loads of great matches. One good thing you like the heat. A lot of players have difficult time with Australian sun and heat. You have always said the sun gives you energy and strength. When Novak was his whiny self he could not stand heat.

i think this is best draw for rafa….. he has already defeated stan in staraight sets on two occasions out of last 3 meetings. I think rafa will be very happy to avoid novak until final
Whatever draw rafa play is fine unless rafa is playing bad

I think it is an okay draw. I prefer him to play established players rather than one match wonders. The pressure is on Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka too. Let us take it match by match. Go Rafael. All support.

Dear Shirley, I know how you feel. I had my tickets all purchased and was so looking forward to seeing Rafa but an emergency back in the UK men’s I have to be there and I fly out on Monday 18th.I am also an avid fan of Rafa and am praying he does well.
