Speaking at the Qatar Open in Doha, Nadal said: “Zidane is history of the sport, history of football, and he’s part of the history of Real Madrid.
“I know him. He’s a good person and humble person, and I think he deserve to be where he is today.
“It’s obvious that he’s good for the players. It’s good that, as one of the most important clubs of the world, Real Madrid have somebody like him on the bench managing the club, and I am happy for him.
“I wish him the best of luck.”
There are two possibilities for Nadal in Paris, each extreme: One is that he will become the first man to reach double-figure titles at the same Grand Slam, and the other is that his legend will be diminished by a second year of failure, following last year’s quarterfinals defeat at the hands of Novak Djokovic. Nadal’s only previous loss at the tournament had been to Sweden’s Robin Soderling in the fourth round in 2009.
Monday marked the official opening day of the 2016 season and it was also the day Rafael Nadal and chair umpire Carlos Bernardes reunited on court for the first time since the Rio Open last year in February.
Asked if he had spoken to Bernardes to clear the air prior to this season, the Mallorcan simply said: “No!”

Rafa has made a great start and I am happy for him.. It is a good introduction for him as a build up to meet the top players.

Unfortunately, neither the tennis channel nor ESPN are showing Doha. I had to subscribe to TennisTV to watch it. They will also have other Rafa matches not on TV.
