Novak Djokovic on playing Rafa:

We have played so many times and even a couple of times on this very court.

He has played great in his first couple of matches and hopefully I will be able to play my best. That is what is needed to beat him.

Rafa on playing Novak:

I have to play my best if I want to have any chance, that’s what I’m gonna try.

Against Novak, I know what I have to do. But be very difficult to make it. Is a big challenge. But I am not worried about it. I am happy about the things, how are going.

I cannot go crazy. I cannot go on the court and thinking that I have to do something that I cannot do it. I going to try to play my game. I going to try to play aggressive. I going to try to be strong mentally.

Rafa has played Djokovic 45 times before and leads the series 23-22. Here are the matches they have played against each other:

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. Watching this match…what a humiliation. Again. 20 defeats and 4 by Djoko. Another year to forget.

  2. You are playing great Rafael. I am praying that you start with confidence n win the first Set. At the moment it is hard to play “catch up” with Djokovic, so play aggressively from the beginning. Vamos Rafa. God bless you. Your Aussie Abuela.

  3. Rafarl, Be calm and confident . You have the game to beat any player as you have done in the past . You are playing so well and have the support and love of millions because you are a lovely person who connects with people so well. Vamos

  6. I just wanted to mention that Rafa vs Daveed match was one of the best at the O2 arena as being reported by Marcus Buckland of Sky news.

This was during an interview with ATP executive chairman and president Chris Kermode who would be showing footage of the match to young and upcoming tennis players at the ATP university as to WHAT TO STRIVE FOR.

It was a dead rubber and both men showed what professionalism is. It was also of the highest quality. Great job RAFA and DAVEED.

    RAFA fan forever

  7. Dearest Rafa: Wishing you the very very best during your semifinal match tomorrow. You are a joy to watch. I have so much admiration and respect for you. You are achieving so very much in your career and you are the reason I love tennis. During your match tomorrow, I hope a sense of calm, intensity, passion and confidence will put you in a spectacular frame of mind and take you to great heights. And the best of luck to you too. God bless you. Love you, Marylynn.

  8. How bright is that fire? Rafael, crank it up-the joker is chomping at the bit! The
Warrior is patient, confident, and seething for a win!

  9. It does not seem fair that the Djoker has the whole day off before the SF. I dont want to blame anybody or look for excuses but the truth is that the Djoker has the advantage.
Well Rafa, just do your best as always and que sera sera.
    Vamos Rafa.

    • Hi Marlene, I do agree with you. Also Roger has an advantage over Stan having a solid day off but that is the way it goes, sometimes. Too bad they can’t make it more fair so Rafa and Stan
could have enjoyed a solid day off as well.

This way both Rafa and Stan would have EQUAL recovery time. Not fair that Novak and Roger
will be so much more well-rested before their next match. Oh well!

Too bad they didn’t play all these matches on the same day. Maybe they’ll eventually follow Rafa’s lead and alternate the surfaces as well.
It’s not always an even playing field which it should be for all of the players.

  10. Vamos Rafa! Wishing you all the best for your next match!

You have been playing amazing tennis this week and on your least favorite surface.

I realize Djoker had a super easy match against Berdych yesterday (less than an hour) with a whole day off today to recover while you played a long grueling, physically demanding 3-setter against Ferrer today. Never an easy task against another great player!

I know you’ll bring your fighting spirit to the semi-finals tomorrow.
IMO you already set the stage for a positive and terrific 2016 season. So happy to be a fan!

Best wishes and continued good health!

  11. Muchas felicidades Rafa, que gusto verte nuevamente con tu juego. Eres perseverante y eso es bueno nunca te rindas. Qué sigan los éxitos.
