Rafael Nadal, after defeating Kevin Anderson (4-6, 7-6, 6-2): It was a tough match for me today (Thursday). I made a lot of unforced errors in the first set. I played better in the second set, but it was really hard to read his serve. I tried to make the most of every opportunity on his serve. This was a good win that will give me confidence for the next match. I’m happy tonight to be in the quarter-finals again at the BNP Paribas Masters.

On his upcoming opponent Stanislas Wawrinka: He’s been having an unbelievable season. He had another great match tonight against Viktor Troicki. I’m going to have to give it my all to beat him.

It’s no secret that Nadal has struggled with his game and his confidence this season, but you might not have guessed it from the way he played against Federer. Suddenly, his forehand had its heavy kick back. Suddenly, he was playing near the baseline instead of 10 feet behind it. Suddenly, he was hitting his backhand with flat pace rather than a safe slice or loop. Suddenly, he was sprinting toward the net to finish a rally when he had the advantage. Suddenly, he was hitting his targets on his serve, especially the one into the body. Twenty-three wins over Federer have taught Nadal exactly what he needs to do to beat him, and that he has no choice but to take his chances when he has them.

  1. Announcers are going w RAFA ………….!!!!!!! : ) …..VAMOS DEAR RAFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless you sweetheart……GO…..GO……GO…….

  2. Stay tough and fierce-fight on as anyone can be beaten by a confident player with
skills and belief. We are hungry for a win🍪

  3. VAMOS DEAR RAFA !!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) You are playing really GREAT….. & enjoy your match and lots & lots of fun tiger ing your way around the court!!!!!!! : ) : ) VAMOS & God bless you……have a great time!!!!!!

On another note, the air filled blown out psychology surrounding nov (& less fed) ‘s game level is being allowed to continue on because most TOP players give their power away to that belief as soon as they enter the court playing nov or fed…. when in reality, infact, all TOP PLAYERS play as strongly with an equally outstanding game, and on given days, can take both nov and fed as we have seen happening from time to time…..YOU WERE OUT in 2014 and that gave nov & the others the chance to build points in your absence….
The good news is that IT IS GREAT that when YOU play ANY TOP player, you compete knowing you CAN take them!!!! You go out and do your best fighting for each ball……YOUR GAME IS AS HIGH & AS STRONG & IS TOP TOP COMPETITIVE………
The reason I am pointing this out here is I am watching Ber playing Nov now competitively , and noticing BER is AS great AS nov …..and I pray Ber knows he CAN do it…..the crowd is unfairly on nov side when infact Ber is playing just as beautifully…..and so Ber ended up loosing the 1st set in a very tight TB…..hopefully, such close strong matches by Ber as well as ALL other TOP players will help their conviction level that THE CAN DO IT…..and ultimately can DEMYSTIFY all that unbeatable psychology air surrounding nov .
YOU recently had very very very tight close matches Vs nov, fed, all other TOP players – it is very obvious you & other TOP players have what it takes to take them POINT BY POINT in your future matches…..

    VAMOS & have a great time!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : )
