The seventh seed, who lost the Swiss title match to Roger Federer, defeated Rosol 6-2, 6-2 in 61 minutes as he followed up a Basel win over the Czech.

“Honestly, always for everybody, the victories are the best medicine possible,” said Nadal, who has spent much of the season working to regain form after a dismal first half to the campaign.

“The big improvement and big confidence is when I am able to find solutions again. I’m able to think what I can do to change the dynamic and to fight the way that I am fighting again. That’s the most important thing for me.”

“I didn’t prepare differently,” said Nadal of facing Rosol in back-to-back weeks. “It was just another match, a tough match against a difficult player. He’s always tough, but I was playing much better than I did last week in the first round. I played a solid match, not many mistakes. I served well and went for the points with my forehand.”

Overwhelming in baseline rallies, Nadal played like a man enjoying every moment of his 6-2, 6-2 thrashing of his nemesis that spanned just 61 minutes.

  3. Wow that was a masterpiece of a match for Rafa! He actually wiped the chip off Rosol’s shoulder. Rafa was firing on all cylinders from the very first moment to the very last.
I loved Rafa’s intensity. Always so relentless. I have to watch this match again.
I don’t think Rosol had a chance to even take a breath. I love how Rafa tries to break
in every single game of his opponents. Before you know it Rafa is at the finish line.
He’s also closing out matches beautifully again.
