VIDEO: Here’s Why You Should Stop Asking Rafael Nadal About Getting Married

As you probably know, Rafael Nadal and Maria Francisca Perello are not—we repeat, not!—engaged, but some reporter in China just had to ask our champ about his plans on getting married. As always, Rafa answered politely:

I don’t need to get married, I believe, to play good tennis.

I played lot of good tennis during a lot of time without being married, so that’s not gonna to be the key.

  1. This is none our of business. Let Rafa concentrate on what he really loves and is TENNIS. i DONT CARE ABOUT HIS PERSONAL LIFE. Vamos Rafa.

  2. His private life is his business and no one else’s so just leave it at that !! Let’s just concentrate on his unbelievable tennis results he has acheived and what is still to come Vamos Rafa

  3. if I may , such comment & context here regarding one’s love life is utterly irrelevant & sounding rather odd. Especially so, since you have such close observations that have no bearing on any of the readers here. Rafa’s love life, (or CR’s, yours , or anyone else for that matter ) and Rafa’s personal affairs are private & belong to him, much like yours belong to you. If you are a proud gay person good for you, and similarly, if you are not a gay person, good for you just as well. It is rather peculiar that a fan will choose to write such a statement on Rafa ,or CR, or anyone else. Being gay or not gay thankfully is no longer an issue in our kinder society, and the gift of love and relationships is a heartfelt, private matter free for all to do, and live it out as they see fit for themselves. We are not called here upon earth to judge or decide what others ought to do with their own personal affairs. Love and relationship in general are mighty precious and important, and such, it is sacred and private between the folks involved. Bringing this up makes zero sense, and appears out of context . People are beautiful ….gay or not gay…..so kindly mind your own business, and marvel at others minding theirs when it comes to your personal affairs.
    VAMOS DEAR RAFA & God bless you !!!!!! : ) : )

    • “Being gay or not gay thankfully is no longer an issue in our kinder society” – I have no idea what part of the world you live in but that is a completely false assertion & one often used to silence anyone who speaks up about LGBT issues. People are regularly discriminated against, persecuted & even killed for being gay so please do not speak about something you know nothing about. Visibility by well-known & admired people like Rafa & CR is critical. The fact that you made this rant ONLY because I speculated about Rafa being gay and NOT at any of the other posts making remarks about his heterosexual image is very telling. Do you give the same speeches when someone asks you if you have an opposite sex partner? No, you do not. You seem like a kind, well-meaning person but you are ill-informed & likely not even aware of your own privilege & prejudices. It’s certainly not your place to tell anyone what they’re allowed to speak of. Being gay is not an insult nor is it a dirty secret, so please remember that next time you are tempted to “defend” someone from speculation of this nature.

      • Lets not go back & forth any further here….. Yesterday, (as in few weeks ago), the whole idea of Rafa’s love life & marriage came up and , then, as equally, I wrote defending his rights for privacy, asserting that it is his business and his business alone. Same as with weather he ought to get a new coach etc…. all topics that are his private business. That is my point…..and coming up w your statement yesterday was totally tactless & not your place to speculate or judge either way…….people are entitled to their private, sacred life and that goes for all people not just famous people. I do not wish to engage in further back & forth over this I just thought to remind you that as a fan you must respect Rafa’s right for privacy. Thank you!

  4. I think he & Xisca are lovely friends & once Rafa retires & doesn’t have so many high profile endorsements, he’ll quietly come out. His pal Cristiano Ronaldo is only in a glass closet at this stage, so I wonder if Rafa looks to his example? I suppose it’s different for CR since he phased out his beard a year ago has a male life partner.

    • I think that was one of the most stupid comments that I’ve read here. I’ve read the same about Federer and someone else. It seems that some people don’t like to see these great athletes having a good life with a girlfriend or a wife, the envy is a very bad company….

  6. Rafael do what your mind n heart tells you what to do pls not what media insist or direct u to do.am a big fan of yours and I know u will get back to the Top.Am praying for you for without defeat there’s no winning and you will always be my Winner. As long as you have Love for the game of tennis you will be ok.Trust in God and all will be well my dear.ur biggest fan.

  7. Oh my goodness that is Rafa and Maria’s own personal business. Can the press throw any further pressure on Rafa….disgusting! Well said Rafa and vamos!

  8. Rafa and Xisca forever !!! When they’re good and ready, it will happen. Rafa is not a FOLLOWER !!!! I bet that loving couple know just what they are doing.

    My beloved Rafa.

  9. I wish the media would get off his back about his ‘drop’ in tennis form and also his personal life. His tennis will improve and what he and Mary do is their business, so please leave the guy alone.

  10. It’s none of anyone else’s business, true. But on the other hand, after 10 years together and with the other three top guys being married with kids (already here or on the way), people are naturally curious why Rafa and Maria Francisca (she does not go by Xisca) haven’t made a move toward getting married. 10 years is a long time. Some might say sh*t or get off the pot. :>)) That still doesn’t make it anyone else’s business but the curiosity is understandable and some reporters are going to ask the question to see what reaction they get.

    • Think about it Roger would not have got married if his girlfriend wasn’t pregnant Djokovic wouldn’t have not gotten married if his girlfriend wasn’t pregnant so both of them got married to them so his girlfriend is not pregnant and on top of it she has a job neither one of their girlfriends had a job so think about it

      • Not true. Roger’s wife and Novak’s wife ran and continue to run charities and other business activities for their husbands, both before and after they got married. That fits the definition of “JOB” – last time I checked the dictionary. Your accusation about why they got married is totally presumptuous and without a shred of evidence to back it up. I know that you’re a Rafa fan, but trashing the wives of his rivals is way beyond the pale.

  11. Always the same, boring questions! Rafa and Xisca love each other! That’s the most important thing!! Vamos Rafa <3 <3 <3
