The post Rogers Cup rankings are up.
As a result of winning the title in Montreal, Andy Murray has returned to No. 2 in the world for the first time since 2013. Since Roger Federer decided not to play in Montreal he could not defend his 2014 finals points and now he is at third place.
The only other change in the top 10 saw Rafael Nadal climb one spot to eighth with Marin Cilic dropping to ninth.
Novak Djokovic is still on top with 14,265 points.

Water that has been inside a jug for so long will eventually become stale. That’s why constant inflow of new water is necessary. Just like people. If Rafa will not change his coach, I hope Toni will make the decision for him. That’s what a good coach does – realize when you’re no longer effective and have the humility to step aside and let Rafa flourish and grow with somebody else.
I have totally not been watching tennis this year, not because I am a fair-weathered fan, but because I take it personally whenever Rafa losses, and it makes me sad, and there are enough sad things in the world.
First the BAD news: Rafa recently said, as he has before, that he won’t replace Uncle Toni as his coach because “family is much more important than tennis.”
Now the GOOD news: Uncle Toni recently hinted that he may not coach Rafa much longer because he wants to spend more time back home in Majorca.
Which begs the question: If Toni leaves, will Rafa’s next coach be his dad, mom, sister or some other family member?
Nobody should be shocked if that’s what happens, since Rafa keeps telling everyone that family is so much more important than tennis to him.

Yeah it makes you wonder….it is not GOOD news though. Good news would be 1) Good phychologist 2) New pro coach. Preferably a former pro player, with experience on the tour.
I agree with J Beer. New psychologist, new coaching team that could include Toni, but offer him some tough love and firm advice. He is doing better, even though the loss to Nishikori was unsettling. Watch the match against Seppi in Hamburg to see the old form coming through. I wonder if he needs to get more angry at his situation, insist on his power as a player.
He definitely needs a good psychologist, but one who knows the uses and the limits of the cognitive and the behaviorist approach. One cannot just say that he should start winning and then he will have more confidence. One cannot just tell oneself that one is great. We saw him win Hamburg, and then lose hold of that confidence. The psychological issues are deeper, and a set of very old anxieties seem to have been unleashed. Someone would have to work with him psychodynamically on those very issues. He could only get a new teaching team, not a new coach. Toni has to stay there, but other figures could come on board to really attend to the game and inspire him. Let us hope.

That is very unlikely as we once again saw that there is no real improvement. He got an ear washing from Nishikori, who is by far not the best on the tour. NEW COACH are the magic words, and we read it more and more and more, when will Nadal realize it?
Maybe top 6. I think that is more realistic.
