Nadal-Federer quarterfinal possible after Cincinnati draw

The Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati announced its draw today, and here are the results. Rafael Nadal is seeded eight and has a bye in the first round. He will play the second round against the winner of the match between Rajeev Ram and Jeremy Chardy.

Seeds in Rafa’s quarter: Milos Raonic, Kevin Anderson and Roger Federer. Seeds in the rest of his half include Marin Cilic, Richard Gasquet, Grigor Dimitrov and Andy Murray.

Seeds in the top half: Novak Djokovic, David Goffin, Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori, Gael Monfils, John Isner and Tomas Berdch.

Projected quarterfinals:

  • Djokovic vs. Wawrinka
  • Nishikori vs. Berdych
  • Murray vs. Cilic
  • Federer vs. Nadal

Rafa’s potential route to the final:

  • 1st round: Bye
  • 2nd round: Rajeev Ram or Jeremy Chardy
  • 3rd round: Milos Raonic
  • Quarter-final: Roger Federer
  • Semi-final: Andy Murray
  • Final: Novak Djokovic

  5. OMG. So he he has to get through the probably1st round against someone who I just saw play one of the greatest TB against Isner – and I asked myself where he’d been. Then he only has to get through Raonic, Fed, and Andy, to face Djoker. Oyyyy.
    Back to worrying if he’s going to make it through Kei, and then play doubles against the Bryan Bros after midnight… Go Rafa!!!!
