Once again, Rafa begins match play on the last possible day, putting himself at a severe disadvantage by having no days off between any of his matches.
Same old same old for our favorite player, who by his own admission, prefers NOT to play matches on back-to-back days.
Every coach on the planet lobbies tournament officials for the best possible scheduling of their player’s matches. Every coach EXCEPT Uncle Toni, who never got the memo that this is a major part of his job.

We have to disagree with you. Maybe it’s better for him to play on Wednesday because after Hamburg he didn’t have time to practice on hard courts.
If it was just this tournament and a few others where he began match play on the last possible day, I would agree with you about the extra day of practice on hard courts. But it’s not just a few events. It’s the vast majority of events that he enters.
Compare that to Federer, who begins tourneys on the earliest possible day far more often than not. Djokovic and Murray also tend to start play before Rafa does, but not quite as often as Federer does.
Marquee players have long received scheduling favors from tournament directors – but only if they or their teams ASK for it. By all indications, neither Rafa or his team does that, despite the fact that he has told the press that he prefers to have days off between matches.
Your comments are rather unfounded chatting offish about Uncle Toni , Rafa, and his magnificent team’s work!!! Clearly you are one of those folks resorting to poor back door gossip carried by old former players & old frustrated announcers……….. many of your comments sounds similar in style & lack of wisdom to those of some old players their likes…. old former players only wish they have had a tiny portion of Rafa’s blessed success…. How Rafa & his magnificent team gets there it is, & has been all along their business!!!! In my opinion, you have zero reason to be chattering off about Nadal, his team or his tennis career…..Not Rafa or uncle Toni are like anybody else…. neither their outstanding, brilliant accomplishments ….. it is rather offish to be compering them over & over again to others…..
