Rafa Wins QFs In Madrid!

Rafa wins! But not before giving us quite a scare! In what can only be described as a thoroughly uneven match, Rafa dropped the first set 4-6, which was a bit of a surprise, considering his recent head-to-head against Ferrer in Acapulco and his record against the Spaniard on clay in general.  He was handed another time violation, which perhaps had something to do with his mindset. The second set was daunting as he fought to stay alive and fight for the game. Rafa rallied back from a near loss, serving at 5-6, 15-30 and took the second set 7-6 to stay in the game. The third set saw Rafa as his best so far in the game, and Ferrer at his worst. He shut out Ferrer by winning it 6-0. What a match! Heart-beating, nail-biting excitement from our champ.

Congratulations Rafa! On to the next one! VAMOS!

  1. “Rafa rallied back from a double match point break for Ferrer…”

No, Ferrer never had a match point.

The closest to that Ferrer was at ONE POINT AWAY FROM A DOUBLE MATCH POINT.

In the second set Rafa was serving to stay in the match at 4-6 4-5 15-30, but Rafa won the next point so it was 30-30 and he went on to win that game so it was 5-5 in the second set.
