The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters draw is out, and thus begins the European clay season. Top seed Rafael Nadal has a bye in the first round, and will face the winner of the match between Giles Simon and a qualifier in the second round.

Rafa is projected to meet 13th seed Mikhail Youzhny in the third round and could face either sixth seed David Ferrer or 12th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals. He could face Stanislas Wawrinka in the semifinals. Besides Novak Djokovic, he could also face Roger Federer in the final.

Rafa lost to Nole in last year’s final and therefore has 600 points to defend. The King of Clay goes into the season with one clay title already in his arsenal (Rio), and we wish him all the luck in the world for a healthy, highly successful clay season. Vamos!

  1. Rafa please do not look ahead. Play each game asit comes and you will be great.
    Best of luck!!!!

  2. It’s gonna be tough, very tough. Rafa needs a big miracle to even go as far as the q-finals.

Anyway, I will continue to PRAY for his success.

  3. +As always I wish you health, clarity and freshness of mind, the desire and belief to win and the confidence to play the way you need to play so that you can win. Love Marylynn

  4. Rafa,if he regains his 2013 seriousness, none can beat him in any turf. I find 2014 Rafa for reasons unknown, lacks the zeal of earlier years. Hope, Toni does shake him from his unusual 2014 lethargy at least now in this backyard of Nadal season that has started.

  5. Good luck Rafael! Wish you the best for clay season and you deserve the title back!!

  6. You are soo very good in this kind of court I wish the best for you in this season I pray my God for that.
